The first Violence Against Women and Human Rights Study Group kicks off a series of regular seminars on the first Tuesday of each month. The purpose of the study group/seminars is to learn of one another’s interests and to exchange ideas, including possible research projects. David Ford, Director of the Institute for Research on Social Issues will present “Cross-Cultural Informal Controls for Violence Against Women,” at the first seminar on November 3.

Violence against women is a Global Public Health and Human Rights problem. The Institute for Research on Social Issues (IRSI) in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI will host a “Violence Against Women and Human Rights Study Group” with regular seminars on the first Tuesday of each month. The featured presentation each month could be anything from a formal presentation through an informal discussion of a particular topic. The study group is open to anyone with a serious interest in pursuing and expanding knowledge on violence against women as a human rights problem
