For many women, changing direction after years of personal investment in a job can be scary. Working Women in Transition gives older women the forum to discover resources and options that can transform their lives as they prepare for their next career. It will provide participants with an interactive opportunity to discuss and learn critical information for career transition.

November 4 — “Remarkable Indiana Dames”
The Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) will present Working Women in Transition in Indianapolis on November 6, 2009, to provide education, outreach and training as well as information, resources and networking for women as they face transition in their professional lives.
“It is our hope that we can keep moving women forward by encouraging them to retrain and become more educated, to start a business or to step forward as leaders in their industries so that they can achieve economic stability and prosperity,” said Kristin Garvey, executive director of the Indiana Commission for Women. “Working Women in Transition gives women the forum to discover resources and options that can transform their lives as they prepare for their next career.”
Noted author, Linda Rendleman, will present real strategies for women who find themselves at a crossroads in their lives. Bringing her own story of transition – as a single mother, cancer survivor and business owner, she brings perspective to the many roles and challenges of today’s woman and relates personally to each participant’s unique journey. Each participant will receive her book, Women Like Us: Real Stories and Strategies for Living Your Best Life. At the end of the day, local women will be brought together to share their own success stories of how they made a career change.
