1990 IVCI Silver Medalist Marco Rizzi with join the IU Violin Virtuosi to perform Tartini’s Devil Trill Sonata and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Described by the The Strad as “…a first-rate violinist with a rich tonal palette, fine technique and a lovely string vibrato…a musician of surprising honesty and maturity,” Rizzi is a prominent recitalist, soloist, and recording artist in Europe. He has performed with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Dresden, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Netherlands Philharmonic, Orquesta Sinfonica di Milano ‘G.Verdi’, and many others.

The IU Violin Virtuosi, led by Mimi Zweig, is a collection of musicians from one of the most prestigious violin training programs in the United States. These young artists between the ages of 10 and 17 perform both as soloists and as an ensemble and have appeared on public radio and television and in concert at Carnegie Hall. Their performances abroad include tours of Spain, France, Germany and Japan.

Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770) was native of Pirano, Istria. His native city is now Piran, Slovenia which is a Sister City of Indianapolis! Slovenes honor Tartini by preservation of his family home located on Tartinijev Trg/Tartini Square and with ongoing musical events.
