The YWCA of Indianapolis, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people, is hosting its 28th annual Salute to Women of Achievement. The event will be held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom and feature Immaculee Ilibagiza, a New York Times award winning author who will share her story about surviving the Rwanda genocide.

For almost 30 years, the YWCA has been recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of women in our community and recognizing women in the following areas:
- Phyllis Wheatley Award: Awarded to a woman who has worked successfully toward eliminating racism within the Indianapolis community, exhibits outstanding service and leadership in bringing about understanding and cooperation among all races, serves as an excellent role model for women of all ages, and reflects and supports the mission of the YWCA.
- Young Woman of Promise: Awarded to a young woman who has made outstanding contributions to the Indianapolis community through her role as a volunteer and/or work, demonstrates outstanding service and leadership, serves as an excellent role model for young adults, and reflects and supports the mission of the YWCA.
- Professional Awards: Awarded to a woman who has made outstanding contributions and/or achievements within her career that impacts the Indianapolis community, exhibits outstanding leadership in her endeavors, serves as an excellent role model for women of all ages, and reflects and supports the mission of the YWCA. Areas of recognition are: 1) Business; 2) Community Service; 3) Education; 4) Health and Life Science; 5) Law; and 6) Sports and Sports Management.
This year is even more special with the addition of an extraordinary keynote speaker: Immaculée Ilibagiza–New York Times bestselling author of Left to Tell and survivor of the Rwandan genocide. Join us for an extraordinary evening with a silent auction, dinner, awards presentation and an inspirational story of faith and forgiveness. There will also be a book signing opportunity with Immaculée. Cash Bar will be available.
