By hosting the 2012 Super Bowl, Indianapolis will be taking on a role as a global city. The evening will include a panel discussion by prominent community members, audience involvement, and refreshments! This event will discuss ways in which Super Bowl XLVI will impact the community and bring it closer to the rest of the world. Come to discuss what that means for you today, on game day, and in the years that come after.
When: Thursday, August 5, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Where: The Indiana Interchurch Center, 1100 W. 42nd St.
This event is free and open to the public. It is completely organized and run by students in the SPEA-V 598 globalization course at IUPUI’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
This thought-provoking discussion will provide a greater understanding of the economic and cultural benefits — and perhaps costs — of hosting a large scale sports event here in Indianapolis. Our panelists are prepared to discuss their viewpoints and eager to answer your questions.
Questions to Ponder
Will hosting the Super Bowl put Indianapolis on the map in terms of becoming a “global city”?
For Indy to become an attractive, global city, it needs to rebuild blighted neighborhoods and energize worn down areas around the city. Is Indy doing a good job of this? What are the chances of the re-construction attracting business / individuals from around the nation and the world?
How will the Super Bowl in Indy help minorities and women…two groups historically left out in big deals?
How different / same is Indianapolis from other cities who were previous hosts of the Super Bowl?

It should help both of my businesses…real estate and a pole fitness and sensuous dance fitness studio. Looking forward to the city sprucing itself up even more than it already has. Indy is a great area!
